Ayyub Abdul-Alim is a community member, business owner, and father in Springfield, MA who was targeted by the FBI to work as an informant. Today Ayyub Abdul-Alim has been falsely imprisoned for 2 years, 2 weeks, and 2 days. Listen to Ayyub Abdul-Alim’s statement from Jail, broadcast by TRGGR Radio:
Ayyub was arrested on a fabricated weapons charge by the Springfield Police Department in collaboration with the FBI in December of 2011. The FBI offered Ayyub exoneration of the charges – only if he agreed to become an informant to spy on the Muslim community. Ayyub refused, and is currently facing the possibility of 15 years in prison.
He has been imprisoned for the crime of refusing to bow down to the desires of the US Government. Ayyub's only crime is having the courage to stand up for his beliefs and refusing to spy on his community.
For this he has endured two years of isolation, humiliation and imprisonment. The FBI has continually refused to give up any information they have on Ayyub from their Joint Task Force reports. Ayyub's case is unfortunately not an isolated incident.
The US Government and it's military forces have been dividing movements and families from the time of their inception. We must stand as together as communities and make it clear that we will not allow them to continue to do so. It is not okay for them to harass and interrogate people. It is not okay for them to threaten and coerce people to become paid informants. And it is not okay for them to imprison people who dare to defy their unjust and discriminatory policies.
